We posted a poll on our twitter a few weeks ago asking who our followers thought was the Comets MVP for the year, with 41% of the vote, Jason Beckner was the winner, and for good reason too. Beckner was a threat on defense and offense, playing corner back, running-back, and wide receiver.
On the offensive side, he totaled 715 yards for the season with 32 catches, averaging 22.3 yards per catch; he also averaged 89.4 yards per game. He helped the Comets to 8 receiving touchdowns. He had a long of 84 yards.
As for the defense, he had 40 solo tackles and 10 assisted; he also had 5 interceptions for a total of 92 yards, averaging 18.4 yards per interception. He had 12 kick off returns for 193 yards, averaging 16.1 yards per carry, with a long of 38 yards. As for punt returns, he had 3 for a total of 8 yards.
Beckner was a vital member of the 2016 Coleman squad, adding some excitement to a team that needed every bit it could get. Thank you and congrats Jason for a great year!
